That’s one thing to arrive, but we’ll still have some procedures to achieve.
I guess our first days in Canada will be overbooked… It’s one thing to have spent more than a year in immigration procedures, but once visas are obtained it’s not finished ! Here is a little list for us:
- Do the procedure to have SIN numbers (don’t forget to print and fill forms from the internet).
- Open a bank account (which bank ?).
- Suscribe to a private insurance for the first third months (which one ? we don’t need some extras, just the basics).
- Buy two cell phones (one for Cheridoo, the other for me) and suscribe to an operator (here again, we don’t know which one. Virgin Mobile does not seem that bad… what do you think ?).
- Find a structure for our daughters (a preschool for Grenouille *3yo*, a daycare for the Grignotte *who will be nearly 22mo*. As an ideal it would be at the same place, bilingual French/English and not too far from our home because we won’t own a car). Utopia…
Our housing already has local phone and the internet, yeaaah ! And we won’t have to go Ikea back and forth in order to furnish the appartment ! We’ll do that in april when we’ll move again (did I already say how much I HATE moving ??!!!).
If you have some advices, i’ll take them all 
We’ll have to do all that with jet lag and our two Trollettes. Hope it won’t rain to much at that time of the year…

Pour l’operateur je te conseille rogers, il y a une offre famille qui permet d’avoir les appels illimités entre les deux et 5 numéros favoris en plus, illimités aussi. Avec ma copine nous l’avons et c’est super pratique.
D’ailleurs nous sommes à Ottawa depuis 3 ans et arrivons à Vancouver le 21 janvier, on se verra peut-être.

@ Naimi: Nous avons vu ce forfait en effet. Le plus important pour nous, pour le moment, c’est l’illimité entre nos deux lignes (nous n’avons pas encore 5 personnes à rajouter hihi).
Vous arriverez à Vancouver peu de temps après nous, nous pourrons sans doute nous rencontrer en effet.

Bon courage et respirez! Pour ce qui est de la banque, un conseil: magasinez! Je sais que ça prend du temps mais ça vaut la peine de comparer les services. Ne vous jetez pas sur la première que vous voyez. Pour ma part j’ai commencé au Canada avec la Banque Nationale du Canada qui était à côté de chez moi, mais ils sont franchement nuls. De toutes façons, vous ne risquez pas d’ouvrir un compte chez eux à Vancouver, ils ont beau s’appeler Banque Nationale, ils sont introuvables à Vancouver! Depuis que j’habite à Vancouver, je suis chez TD Canada Trust sur les conseils de mon homme, et je les aime beaucoup. Excellent service à la clientèle… Allez, un jour à la fois, c’est épuisant mais vous y arriverez
